Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa Inaugurated the Sabi Star Lithium Mine

On August 31st, Emerson Mnangagwa, President of Zimbabwe, led a delegation to visit the Max Mind's Sabi Star lithium mine project, a subsidiary of Chengxin Lithium, to cut the ribbon and officially announce the project's commencement of operation. Vice-President of Zimbabwe Rtd Gen Constantino Chiwenga, Mines and Mining Development Minister Winston Chitando, the chairman of Chengxin Lihtium Zhou Yi and Max Mind general manager Xu Hui attended the ceremony.
In his welcome speech, Zhou Yi pointed out that with the successful completion of the Sabi Star project, the management of Max Mind has become increasingly standardized, and the supporting facilities have been gradually improved. Max Mind had fulfilled the solemn promise of providing more employment, creating more taxes, and adhering to green and sustainable development.
The concept of ‘coordinated development of society, environment, enterprises, and employees’ which forms the founding principles of Max Mind, aligns with the expectations of the Zimbabwean government regarding Chinese investments in the country.
President Mnangagwa highlighted the Sabi Star lithium mine project as a successful exemplar of collaborative mining endeavors, underscoring the potential for remarkable achievements when all parties work together for a common goal.
“The Zimbabwean government will introduce more favourable policies to attract domestic and foreign investors to achieve further economic growth and industry innovation. Thanks to all investors and the builders for the unremitting efforts. Thanks to international partners for their trust in Zimbabwe, all sectors of society, including traditional leaders and workers, should continue to support the project for its ultimate success.”,the President said.
Accompanied by Zhou Yi and Max Mind executives, President Mnangagwa visited the ball mill workshop and flotation workshop, and expressed his affirmation and appreciation for the high efficiency and high-quality production of the project.
The President praised the success of the Sabi Star lithium mine project as leading Zimbabwe's mining industry and economy to a new development path.
