Max Mind Wins Zimbabwe Excellence in Community Empowerment and Social Leadership Award, Community Champion Award
Harmonious communities are an important part of the construction and operation of green mines. Max Mind, the Zimbabwean subsidiary of Chengxin Lithium, has been actively involved in ESG practices since its establishment, and continued to help local community projects, and has already landed a number of livelihood projects and achieved good social repercussions.
On November 24th, ESG Network Zimbabwe (ESGNZ) hosted the 7th Zimbabwe ESG Report Awards Ceremony at the Harare International Conference Center in the capital city of Zimbabwe, where Max Mind was awarded the "Zimbabwe Excellence Award for Community Empowerment and Social Leadership for the year 2023". ESGNZ, a sustainable business organization, is committed to promoting ESG best practices, ESG education and encouraging a balance between commercial and non-commercial organizations in Zimbabwe and beyond. The theme of the awards was 'ESG Champions: Pioneering Sustainable Development', honoured companies and organizations positively impacting communities in which they are operating their businesses. At the awards ceremony, ESGNZ Executive Director, Willard Razawo, praised Max Mind's achievements, particularly its investments in healthcare, educational empowerment, infrastructure development and community water supply, which have significantly improved the living conditions of local residents.
On November 30, schools in the northern Buhra gathered at Mukwasi Primary School to present Max Mind with the Community Champion Award. Speaking at the ceremony, Mukwasi Deputy Head Teacher Thomas said the community agreed that Sabi Star had been a great benefit to the school and other organizations around it, and that it had been a project that had benefited the people. He said the schools have benefited from the Solar Water Project since 2022 and are now vibrant with the convenience of running water, which has greatly alleviated the difficulty of accessing water in the hot zone, and that last year Max Mind donated paint, which has made the schools colorful and helped to achieve the high quality of education for children that was not possible before due to financial constraints, which was highly appreciated.
Since its establishment, Max Mind has never stopped working for the welfare of the surrounding communities, the mine has employed more than 400 local employees, accounting for 86%; there are 31KM from Gaza to Mukubu commercial center, which previously affected the quality of life of the villagers because of the inconvenient access, the company invested funds to expand and widen the road, which facilitated the travel of the local residents; along with the development of the local socio-economic, people's demand for health care is getting higher and higher, Max Mind has built the Mukubu Health Center oriented to public welfare, which not only facilitates more than 13,000 villagers in 9 nearby villages to get medical treatment, but also creates attractive jobs; the mine also buys residential land for relocated families to build more livable houses, and builds power stations with surplus electricity to supply the local residents to use, which continuously improves the living environment and quality of life for them.
Max Mind is committed to taking responsibility and moving forward; strengthening its strength and giving back to the society. In the future, Max Mind will carry out more social responsibility activities in Zimbabwe, actively practicing the national "One Belt, One Road" initiative, continuously demonstrating the responsibility and commitment of Chinese enterprises, and achieving win-win and common prosperity with Zimbabwe.
